When a tourist says that the Ha Giang loop tour is one of the best trips in the North of Vietnam, he/she doesn’t mean to exaggerate. With incredible pristine landscapes, the loop has captured the hearts of thousands of visitors. In particular, for those keen on motorcycle traveling, the single off-road tracks on this trip have an extraordinary attraction. If you want to experience a Ha Giang motorbike tour via this loop, the following 2-day itinerary will be a good recommendation for you to give a try.
Day 1: Ha Giang – Quan Ba – Yen Minh – Dong Van
First, prepare yourself because you are about to conquer plenty of challenging off-road routes. The first highlight of the trip was the Bac Sum Slope. The slope winds its way from Minh Tan commune to Quyet Tien commune of Ha Giang. The landscape on both sides of the slope is magnificent with sublime mountains and evergreen grass cover.
After experiencing the graceful curves of Bac Sum, you are to ride on the paths across the cat-ear mountains to reach the Heaven Gate Quan Ba. On the way, you will feel relaxed while witnessing the peaceful life of residents here. As you reach Quan Ba, this landmark will surely astonish you with its glamour. Quan Ba Heaven Gate deserves its name as it looks just like a magnificent gateway to heaven. Previously, a large wooden gate was built here, but now the gate no longer exists due to the severity of the weather. From this site, you can fully enjoy the beauty of Dong Van plateau, Co Tien Mountain, and Tam Son town.
After resting in Yen Minh, we will head for White Hmong Village and Vuong’s palace. It is no doubt that Vuong’s palace is one of the most impressive attractions on the trip. The palace is also known as Cat King’s palace. This 100-year-old building belongs to Vuong Chinh Duc – one of the wealthiest and most powerful people in the region in the early 20th century. There are two surprising things about construction. Firstly, it was built by the Mong people according to Chinese and French architecture. Secondly, Vuong Chinh Duc spent about 7.5 million dollars to build this palace. While the Vuong family’s house impresses visitors with its ancient grandeur, White H’Mong village captures people’s attention with cultural uniqueness.
When participating in any Ha Giang loop tours, you will surely be led to Dong Van Stone Plateau. This place is a rocky area of about 1500 meters high, with an area of more than 2356km2. The road to this Rock Plateau is a real challenge. One side of you is sharp cat-ear stones, and another is a deep abyss. Dangerous sharp bends on the road are terrifying as well. But as soon as you arrive, you’ll find all the effort is worth it. The magnificent natural scenery here is adorned with notable architectural works of the local people creating an outstanding spectacle.
Another place not to be missed is the Lung Cu flagpole – the northernmost point of Vietnam. The flagpole belongs to Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. It is located at an altitude of 1470 meters above sea level, and to get here, you must climb 389 stone steps first. Lung Cu flagpole is a place with great historical significance so that you will hear many stories about this site in most Ha Giang loop tours.
Day 2: Dong Van – Meo Vac – Yen Minh – Ha Giang
After breakfast, we will set out to conquer one of the greatest passes of the whole North – the Ma Pi Leng Pass. Ma Pi Leng Pass of Ha Giang province, with a length of about 20 kilometers, is considered one of the most dangerous roads in Ha Giang. The pass is significant for ethnic people here. Ma Pi Leng peak is 1,200 meters high on the Dong Van rock plateau. The path leading to the summit belongs to the road named “Happiness Road” connecting Ha Giang city, Dong Van and Meo Vac town. Coming to this place, visitors not only have the opportunity to admire the majestic scenery of the rocky plateau but also better understand the history of this majestic pass. The pass is probably the greatest dare in the whole Ha Giang loop tour.
Our next destination is Meo Vac – a small town with great attraction. Coming to Meo Vac town, we definitely have to visit the famous Tam Giac Mach flower field here. We will also spend time in the village of Lo Lo people – one of the earliest ethnic groups in Vietnam. If we are lucky, we can attend special festivals. In this peaceful town, you can relieve stress and forget all the worries.
On the way back to Ha Giang, we will also visit Lung Tam village – where the Hmong people have made their reputation for weaving and brocade. The trip ends up leaving you with happy memories and valuable experiences.
The beauty of northern Vietnam is reflected in Ha Giang loop tours. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, and you are thirst for exploring the greatness of nature, don’t hesitate to travel Vietnam by motorbike and grab the awaiting joyful moments.
