Must-stop destinations while riding from Hanoi To Ho Chi Minh

Thanh Hoa

The first attraction on the way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City by motorbike that I would recommend to you is Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Thanh Hoa. This is an ideal tourist destination for those who are into the wild beauty, tranquility and want to get away from crowded cities with a busy lifestyle.

Around 7 am, you start your journey from Hanoi. And don’t forget to say goodbye to this capital city with a Pho bowl to warm up and start your day!

It will take you about 3.5 – 4.5h to reach Pu Luong, depending on your speed as well as the weather condition. You will have a simple lunch at the homestay in Pu Luong, then spend the whole afternoon discovering this place.

Some of the most beautiful places that you must check-in when visiting here are Don village, Son Ba Muoi village, Hieu village, and so on.

If you are not in a rush and able to spend 2 days in Pu Luong, or you are an adventurous person, trekking to the top of Pu Luong mountain is not a bad choice. This activity will take you about 6-8 hours, and then you can camp and enjoy a night sleeping in nature. However, remember that this activity should only be done in nice weather!

One tip when coming to Pu Luong is to rent a Bungalow as it gives you the best chance to gaze at the whole breathtaking view here!

In the evening, do not miss the opportunity to enjoy the delicious traditional dishes of the mountainous area such as carried-under-arm pig, hill chicken, or Co Lung duck.

On the next day when you leave Pu Luong Nature Reserve, ride your bike to the center of Thanh Hoa to continue your trip. However, if time permits, you should try the fermented pork roll as well as grilled shrimp roll, the traditional dishes of Thanh Hoa Province.

Da Nang

If we often suggest our readers travel to the mountainous areas when the weather is a bit chilly, then beaches with white sand are highly recommended when starting your Vietnam motorbike tour on those hot summer days.

On the way from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City by motorbike, you will come across many beautiful beaches, and of which, the most worthwhile place that we can’t help mentioning is Da Nang.

However, since My Khe beach in Danang is often overcrowded, I recommend going to the Son Tra Peninsula for the best water-activity experience.

The first activity that you cannot miss here is definitely diving and watching the coral reef, which is a new and exciting sports activity in Son Tra Peninsula.

There are many different coral reef tours for you to choose from. With thorough preparation of costumes, equipment, as well as safety guards, you can rest assured that you’re safe. You will soon get used to and fall in love with the experience of watching a diversity of coral reefs with your own eyes but not through the screen.

Besides Danang, you should spend a day visiting Hoi An. Checking in with the ancient and artistic yellow walls will help you have such memorable shots of your adventure.

Da Lat

Da Lat will definitely be a spotlight in your motorbike travel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh. The first location that you should pay a visit when coming to Da Lat is the Lonely Pine Tree, one of the symbols in this city.

It is a bit difficult to ride on the roads here, but after all, when you reach here and capture all the scenes into your eyes, you will feel that everything you have just gone through is all worth it. The pine tree standing tall and alone with a lake in front and a vast pine forest behind makes it a fantastic and dream-like scenery. With that perfect background, you don’t have to pose much but still can easily capture a unique photo. Therefore, if you come to Da Lat, don’t forget to visit this famous pine tree.

Besides, if you want to take some vintage photos like in the years of 80s to 90s, try riding to Da Lat station.

Moreover, you might not know this but the one-of-a-kind feature of this city is that it has no traffic lights. However, what makes it even more incredible is that there is no traffic or crowds here. So, just come to this place, relax and enjoy a peaceful day!
